Who Is IG-11?
IG-11 is an IG-series assassin droid. It appears in Season 1 of The Mandalorian, where it starts out as a bounty hunter chasing the same target as the Mandalorian (Din Djarin) — Grogu. But partway through the story it’s wrecked, then repaired and reprogrammed by the farmer Kuiil, and reborn as a “nurse (caregiver) droid.”
After that it joins the group as Grogu’s caretaker, and in the Season 1 finale it plays out a memorable scene, sacrificing itself to protect everyone. It was voiced by Taika Waititi, also known as a film director. By the way, it resembles IG-88, the bounty-hunter droid from the original trilogy, but they’re different characters — don’t mix them up.
